Our AIM
To promote ever growing interest in pipes
and drums by offering professional tuition.
In our endeavour to achieve its aim, the City of Blacktown School of
Piping & Drumming offers courses for beginners through
to experienced players. Instruction at the school is open to any member of any pipe band or drum corps.
Fee Structure
Lesson fees for the City of Blacktown School of Piping & Drumming
are structured in the following manner:

BEGINNERS CLASS
|

Max. 3 pupils per instructor
$11.00 per hour (inc.GST).
|
This class is designed for people who
are just beginning or for Elementary Graded players
wishing to improve their basic technique and musical
theory knowledge. Lessons provided for pipers, snare
and tenor drummers.
All lesson material is provided by the school. Term
reports are provided so parents of students can assess
their progress. Together with their tutor and school
administrator students / parents can determine which
class or course should be taken for the following term.
Lessons are available on Mondays for pipers from 8.30am
– 8pm Wednesday from 3pm—8pm and for drummers
on Monday evenings from 6.30pm—9.30pm.
The class dates coincide with government school terms.
Fees are to be paid per term in advance.

ONE TO ONE LESSONS
|
|
|
Per 1/2 hour lesson is $16.50 (inc.GST).
Per hour lesson is $27.50 (inc.GST).
|
Are available for experienced players
wishing to improve all aspects of their playing. These
lessons are available for pipers covering Ceol Beag
and Ceol Mor and all aspects of Snare and Tenor drumming.
Lessons are booked and paid in advance in blocks of
four. Lesson times are normally chosen by the student
(but are dependent upon the tutors availability). Upon
application current availability of tutors for your
chosen lesson time will be provided.

ELEMENTARY & INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATION COURSES
8 weekly courses are available that cover APBA Piping &
Drumming Certificates. These courses are based on the RSPBA
structured learning booklets. These courses can be arranged
for individual pipe bands.
Course fees are $88.00 (inc.GST) (Additional charge of $30.00)
for students
wishing to sit the certificate examination which is paid to
the Australian Pipe Band Association body.

Many who complete classes at the City of
Blacktown School of Pipe and Drumming will be looking to advance their
playing experience by joining a progressive and dynamic band like
Blacktown.
The Band offers positions in the ranks
of its three bands in Grades 4, 3 and of course Grade 1- the
pinnacle of achievement in the Pipe Band World.
When you are ready to progress, the City of
Blacktown already has the perfect opportunity awaiting with tutorage
available from the World's foremost exponents of Piping and Drumming.
