BEGINNERS CLASS

Stage one.

4 x 10 week terms.
$100.00 per term

This class is designed for people who are just beginning.  Basic introduction to music, scale and basic embellishments and 2 beginner tuners.

Students must have their own practice chanters which can be purchased from these retailers. All lesson material is taken from the Piping Center Tutor book 1 and it is an advantage for students to have a copy.

Lessons are 7:00 – 8:00 PM Monday evenings with Graham Hardy

It is recommended that students also take some one to one lessons.

BEGINNERS CLASS
Stage two.

4 x 10 week terms.
$100.00 per term

This class is for those who have completed our stage One learning program, or can already play a couple of pipe tunes on the practice chanter.  We cover the major embellishments and progression to 5 band repertoire tunes.

Students must have their own practice chanters which can be purchased from the following recommended retailers: All lesson material is taken from the Piping Center Tutor book 1 and it is an advantage for students to have a copy.

Lessons are 7:15 – 8:00 PM Tuesdays taken by Pipe Major Ainsley Hart

It is recommended that students also take some one to one lessons.

BEGINNERS CLASS
Stage three.

Players at this stage will be invited to join the Band and all further group lessons are provided free of charge.

This class is designed for people who have completed our beginner stage Two class or are able to play a handful of  common pipe tunes under their belt, and are starting to play these tunes on the pipes.

Students must have their own practice chanters and bagpipes (or looking to purchase pipes) which can be purchased from these recommended retailers: All lesson material is taken from the Piping Center Tutor book 1 and it is an advantage for students to have a copy.

Lessons are 6:15 – 7:00 PM Monday evenings with Graham Hardy

It is recommended that students also take some one to one lessons.

ONE TO ONE LESSONS

$30/45 min lesson or

$50/60 min lesson

Are available and recommended for players of all experience levels who wish to improve any aspect of their playing. Lessons are available for pipers covering Ceol Beag and Ceol Mor .

Lesson times are normally chosen by the student (but are dependent upon the tutor's availability) and fees paid directly to the tutor.  Our current (April 2009) list of piping tutors is:

Many who partcipate in classes with the City of Blacktown Pipe Band will be looking to advance their playing experience by joining a progressive and dynamic band like Blacktown.

The Band offers positions in the ranks of its three bands in Grades 4, 3 and of course Grade 1- the pinnacle of achievement in the Pipe Band World.
