The City of Blacktown Pipe Band Guest
Players Scheme
The Scheme on Offer
We are Australia's premier multi level band
with 35 years of achievement to our record and intentions to prosper
and grow for many years to come. To fulfil this mission, we
are always looking for players able to fit straight
into our Grade One Pipe Band. Our repertoire
of contest and concert tunes is comprehensive , so we are
looking for people confident of learning a complete list of varied
tunes. Consider perhaps a working hoiday for you and/or your partner.
Australia's climate, beaches, cafes and night life are
legendary.
Travel subsidy for successful Grade 1 applicants
We will reimburse your reasonable airfares
in travelling to and from your own country subject to the
following guidelines
- The Band and the applicant co-operate in
finding competitively priced tickets
- We pay 1/4 of your return airfare after
satisfactory performance with the band for 1 month
- Pay another 1/4 of your return airfare
after six satisfactory months
- Pay the last 1/2 of your airfare after
eleven satisfactory months
Accomodation assistance
Arriving in a new country and having to find
accommodation can be daunting therefore
Blacktown is on the main western train line
from the city (about a 45 min trip) - so if you are making enquires of
your own, anywhere along this line will make travel to the city (where
employment opportunities abound) and practice most convenient. See http://www.sydneybuses.nsw.gov.au/sb.tickmaps01.html.
Work Assistance
We are able to help most of our guests
in
finding well paid employment. Please note that we are not in a position
to guarantee work but we are always able to point you in the right
direction and help locate suitable jobs. Australia has quite
strict workplace rules and you MUST be able to obtain a working visa
before your departure to Australia.
